HALF STEP BENDS

Guitar techniques are the tools that you need to master for you to be able to improve your guitar playing skills. These skills are the weapons that you would use when playing guitar solo or any guitar riffs. If you make use of it and maximize its utilization, you can be able to pull of solos in epic proportions. That is if you have the patience to master it. Some techniques are simple and easy, others are difficult. But if you hook up all these techniques into a combo, you would find yourself a powerful riff or solo. If you know how to use it.

Half step bends are guitar techniques that allow you to hit a half – note higher by bending it slightly up or down. Half steps mean a fret higher. One fret high or low is called a half step. Two frets are whole steps. So, for you to be able to do a half step bend, you should use your ring finger to bend the string and your index and middle finger, to support the ring finger. Once you get into position, place your ring finger on the desired fret and string in which you would perform a half step bend, and then, bend it slightly upwards until your reach the note on the next fret. That’s it.

THE SECRET OF GAINING SPEED

First of all, speed isn’t all that matters in playing the guitar. You will get there, believe me, but when you are still a beginner, don’t focus to it too much. But I am not saying that it doesn’t matter, it does matter. It is always good to hit a flurry of notes at lightning speed, but what I am trying to say is that you should first focus on the techniques and believes me, everything would follow. The secret behind gaining the speed that you always wanted is not focusing on speed itself but on the techniques.

The techniques are the one that improves your speed, so if you focus more on it, then you would definitely improve your speed more efficiently rather than making fruitless efforts. There is always an effective method of doing things, most especially in playing the guitar. So if you follow a well – laid plan and an organized manner of practicing, everything would be easier and more effective than not following any plan at all. Practice should be organized to be effective. You could ask any guitar teacher and they would give you the same answers, practice and practice in an organized manner.
